More than 50% of Uganda’s population is aged under 15 and many children are either partial orphans (having lost one parent) or total orphans (having lost both). Many children are cared for by extended families or are effectively given board and lodging as a house-boy or girl by surrogate families in the community. For many, whatever their family circumstances, the cost of education is prohibitive. In short, life is tough for Ugandan children.

Every Saturday morning (and Wednesday during school holidays) more than 250 children receive the opportunity to relax, socialise, play games, engage in fun educational activities and receive food, clothing and encouragement at the Kiswa Children’s Project.

Kiswa Children’s Project is a happy secure place for children who might otherwise be making mischief or falling into bad company to come and receive affirmation, pastoral care and practical support. For some, the hot meal provided might be the only balanced meal they will have in several days.

A local GP (General Practitioner) is associated with the project and a programme of health monitoring, primary health education and financial help for medicines and vaccinations
is being planned.
